Fiji is in Stage 2 based on the Demographic Transition Model. This can be concluded because they have a much higher Crude Birth Rate (21) than a Crude Death Rate (9), giving Fiji a Natural Increase Rate of 1.2%. It can also be shown that they are stage 2 by looking at their current population pyramid. It has a very wide base and a very narrow top, indicating that there are a lot of young people living in the country, another sign that a country is in Stage 2. Finally, with a net migration rate of -8 people per 1,000 people shows that lots of people leave the country to migrate internationally, again another sign that they are in Stage 2 of the demographic transition.
